FIFTH MISSION: INSIDE A COMIC

WHY TO USE COMICS INSIDE THE CLASSROOM?

Times have changed, and as comics and graphic novels become more accepted as a form of art and literature, they are making their way into classrooms. Many parents and teachers, however, still are asking, "Why should kids read comics?"
Emerging researches show that comics and graphic novels are motivating, support struggling readers, enrich the skills of accomplished readers and are highly effective at teaching sometimes dry material in subject areas such as science and language. There are three E’s of Comics: they let: 1. Engagement 2.Efficiency 3. Effectiveness.
APP FEATURES

There are different apps to create comics online:

StoryboardThat: http://www.storyboardthat.com/
I used Storyboard App, and it has incredible advantages:
1. Its’ free and it’s easy to use for student from 6-12 years old
2. You can add a maximum of 6 cells
3. It's very organized: settings, characters, textables, etc.
Students can use this app and get used to it really fast, there aren't  a lot of characters but it has a lot of useful settings to work different contents with the pupils.
I've created the following comic to work the emotions, specially in bullying situations inside the school. The comic represents a bullying conflict. It's included the victim, the aggressor and the viewer. The comic tries to give the student the message about what they can do to help in a similar situation if they are viewers.
